Well we made it to Friday, which is the date that we needed to make sure that Addison wasn’t born before, due to our private health insurance cover. This basically means that whenever our little boy is ready he can make an appearance and we will not be out of pocket thousands of dollars!
We went to see our obstetrician this morning for our 39 1/2 week check up and once again everything is well with myself and Addi.
Fundal height measurement was 39cms, which is right on track and my blood pressure was the same as last week at 115/70. He didn’t check my cervix this week, he said that we will wait and see how I’m travelling next Monday when I will be past my due date.
If I haven’t had Addison by my 40 1/2 week Monday appointment then I will be admitted to hospital on Tuesday night and labour will be induced. The birth of Addi will then hopefully be on the Wednesday 3rd November if everything goes well. Inducing labour can however be a little bit of a slow process and is a last resort.
Doctors don’t like to let a pregnancy go for longer than 41 weeks in this day and age (I say this as both Charles and myself were born 2 weeks late) as the integrity of the placenta can be compromised, putting the baby at risk.
At least if labour does need to be induced I’m guaranteed of having my obstetrician deliver Addison due to the roster system of the hospital. Now it is just a waiting game!!
