I had another doctors visit today to check on Addi’s progress and mine of course. My blood pressure has been perfect for the entire pregnancy which is great news, yet again today it was the same as it has been for all my previous visits.
My ob had a look at Addi and said that he was positioned perfectly and everything was looking good. For the first time Dr Bopp measured the fundal height, for more information on this have a look at the My First Baby Pregnancy Guide article for Week 20 of Pregnancy. Apparently my pregnancy was progressing well according to this measurement.
The doctor asked about my size when I was born as the size of your baby is based more on mum. This is great news for me as I was an average size baby where Charles was quite big!
Between 26 weeks and 28 weeks of pregnancy before my next doctors appointment I have to go have a blood test to check for the possibility of Addi having gestational diabetes. It involves having a sugary drink and then testing me for it’s affects. I believe it is referred to as the glucose tolerance test, my doctor has requested a full blood count, blood group antibodies test and 50gm glucose screen. I plan to have the tests on Thursday 29th July when I will be 27 weeks pregnant, then I go back to see him the following Thursday with the results.
From 28 weeks (so after my next appointment) my doctor is going to be seeing me every 2 weeks instead of every month. Things will start to get very exciting from then as this means we are getting closer and have entered the third trimester!!!
