There was no chance for sleep now, contractions were getting closer together but weren’t exactly consistent which was a little frustrating to time. Charles called the hospital to get some advice and find out when we should head to the hospital.
Everything was getting a bit much by 5.30 am and I thought it might be best if we head off. Charles called ahead again to let the hospital know that we were on our way!
We arrived and waddled our way to the maternity ward (trying to work out that we were in fact going the right way – we got lost on the hospital tour so it’s not surprising that we were struggling to get there now!). When we got there, no one was around so I stood in the corridor waiting for a nurse to guide as to where to go. Contractions continued and we were soon lead to one of the birthing suites.
Making ourselves as comfortable as possible, it wasn’t long before my waters broke…all over the hospitals couch! (I guess that’s why it is vinyl ). Charles was very pleased that it didn’t happen at home in our bed or on our couch or worse yet in the work car!!
