Today I am 6 weeks pregnant and although I haven’t been feeling all that great in recent days I feel I am starting to get a bit closer to morning sickness. At every step of this pregnancy I have been doing plenty of research of what is happening to my body, what the baby’s progress and development is and of course the dos and don’ts.
When my husband and I decided to start trying for a baby one of the first things I did was buy a book (probably pretty common I would say). The book I decided was best for me was by Dr Miriam Stoppard, titled “Conception, Pregnancy and Birth: The Childbirth Bible for Australian Parents.” I haven’t just read this book from cover to cover, I’m using it more as a guide as I progress through each step.
Some little facts that I have learnt from this book is at six weeks of pregnancy there are the beginnings of the spinal cord, the embryo now has a heart that is starting to beat and the embryo is in a very sensitive phase of development. By the end of this sixth week the embryo will be about 4mm long and will weigh less than a gram!! Pretty incredible My little jelly bean is starting to develop!
