Last night Addi had his first sleep in his big cot. He still fits length ways in his Boori rocker but was starting to kick and hit the sides so we thought it might be time to move him down into his bedroom and into his big cot. We actually tried this the night before, but he just was not settling down so we postponed it for one more night.
For now we are sleeping on a mattress in his bedroom until he gets used to being in his room, and when his sleeping patterns become a little more regular. We will eventually move into the spare room (next to his bedroom) for a while, then back up into our bedroom using our Angelcare baby monitor. But I can’t see this happening for some time!
Addi’s sleeping patterns are still all over the place and have not settled back down. He was once sleeping through the night in a 7 to 8 hour block, now I’m lucky if he sleeps for 4 hours in one stint. Over the next few days I’m going to start to put a sleeping routine back in place and hope this helps.
One of the main things that has disrupted his usual night time routine is his feeding seems to have changed. I’m finding that he is sometimes not ready for the last big feed of the night and therefore putting him to bed without it would just be useless as he would wake up an hour later wanting more food.
He is also wanting more and more feeds at night, some I’m thinking that it might be time to start him on solids very soon! But I have read that starting solids does not help with sleeping. We will see, I’m hoping to make it to the 6 month mark of feeding him only breast milk.
