After talking to many people about Addi’s sleeping habits and eating habits we have decided to take him to our family doctor to have a chat and see what he can suggest. We also want to rule out any medical problems that might be affecting Addi, just in case there is more to it than just teething.
So after a little chat we wanted to check Addi’s weight and make sure he was still on track at which point the poor little button lost balance on the scales and tipped backwards!! He got a little scare from it and then let rip with the tears. Normally he would calm down quite easily from a scare etc but not today!! It was a bit of a worry to me as he doesn’t ever do this. Usually has a little cry and then goes, I’m OK and continues on.
We did our best to talk to the doctor and calm Addi down but it wasn’t the easiest to chat when we had an upset baby. Good news was his weight is fine and he is on target, slightly under average on the graph, but nothing to worry about. So clearly he is, despite the refusing solids, getting everything he needs. But I already knew that, otherwise I would have a very grumpy, unsettled baby on my hands every single day!! His weight was just over 8.6kgs nearly 8.7kgs (from memory).
After a chat with the doctor he had a look at Addi, listened to his chest which was all clear. Checked him over for anything that could be causing him discomfort and then discussed checking his urine. So that is the next step for me, to get a pee sample!!! He also talked about silent reflux with me and we are going to test to see if this might be the problem for Addi. Just the day before a friend had mentioned this to me, I’ll do some reading on this and see if it fits.
He didn’t seem to think it was teething that was bothering Addi, but I’m not sure. It is very hard as people are not there when Addi is crying. I know that some times it is just a case of he can’t settle himself but other times he is crying uncontrollably and is in pain. It is very easy to witness when you see it, and I am his mum, I do know Addi better than anyone.
In a couple weeks time we will go back and see if anything has changed or improved and have the results from the urine sample to rule out any medical issues.
