Finally we have finished Addison, Preston and Jasper’s cubby house which we bought for their birthdays. We wanted to of course paint and decorate the house which really was a challenge since I was heavily pregnant. It didn’t get done before we had Jasper, but somehow with a new born baby we managed to get everything done. So at least it was complete for Christmas!!
We did so much to the cubby house that we bought from Hide and Seek Cubbies (I’ll put the link at the bottom of the post). We searched high and low for a good cubby but affordable and that’s when we found Hide and Seek. I have to say, we will need to do some better waterproofing on the roof as it is unfortunately leaking. Some things are getting a little damaged, but it’s all learning. We will do some repairs when the wet weather goes away but for now we are putting up with the summer Queensland storms and the cyclones lol (welcome to QLD!).
So here it is!!!
Some of the things we did: Added lino flooring, put in solar lights (inside and out – the hanging birds), Addi asked for a clock, home made curtains, of course painted inside and out, window flower garden, added shelves and a book rack, added a black board, hung photos, put a mailbox on, added a door knocker, house number and latches to windows. Plus of course there is the kitchen that we built. We made an oven and sink/cupboards out of bedside tables. Added a bench and shelf covered by curtains (this bench may need to be replaced with a painted solid timber one due to wet weather, the oven has also been damaged, and we will fix this up so it’s a little better in the weather). One day I might put a more detailed post on how we made the kitchen. But for now I hope you have enjoyed seeing the photos of the boy’s cubby house.
If you’d like your own cubby to decorate and make your own check out Hide and Seek Cubbies website. They are very friendly and helpful. The entire process was very easy and the cubby was delivered to us at a reasonable rate. Very happy. We just have to do some more waterproofing and it will be perfect. They also have a facebook page, so check that out too. Our cubby is called the Billie Cubby, but they have some smaller options too.
It’s a child’s dream cubby for sure. I think my cubby was made from an old applicance delivery crate! But my Dad enjoyed making it too – as you all did. I must send a letter to their letter box! love Gran.
Ha, yes well…. Charles was mowing the other day and knocked their letterbox off the fence – he said he’ll fix it but your letter might not arrive safely at this point hahaha.
