Today we moved mum and dad’s (nanny and poppy’s) spare organ to our house as they didn’t have the space for it.
Yesterday I spent the day sewing a cushion for the stool to match in with our homes colour scheme. I had left over fabric from upholstering our dining chairs so thought this would be perfect to make a cushion from. I called dad up, got the measurements for the stool and went to buy a piece of foam suitable.
There is a foam shop right across the road so we went there, and found they had a scrap for $3.00 that would be just what we needed. I also wanted to put some fabric covered buttons on the cushion so I needed to get the button kits from Spotlight, just a few shops down. Believe it or not the button kits were actually $6.00… more than the foam for the actual cushion, so very typical.
So here is a looksie at the organ in place and my finished stool cushion… not bad for $9.00!
I’m also going to put some vases or decorations either side on the organ, just have to find something suitable that I like the look of.
You might notice that I did not put ties or anything on the cushion to keep it in place. A handy tip is to use a piece of non-slip rubber matting (sometimes called cargo matting) under all your seat cushions to stop them from moving around. It works a treat! It is very affordable and can be found at Bunnings in packaged rolls or bought by the metre, also some rug shops sell it.
