Something special that I have been working on for the party and also as a keepsake for the boy’s birthdays is what I’m calling birthday canvas. At first I was just going to do it for Preston as a special “first birthday” thing. But then Daddy said I should do it for both, which I am so glad I did. The idea is that you put all of their favourite things, cute little memories at the age and particularly for a first birthday record their development (how many teeth, height, weight, firsts, etc).
I did the designs in photoshop all ready to have printed, only to find out that there is generally a couple week wait on having canvas printing done. This of course would be too long to wait since I wanted to have them both on display at the party. Luckily a friend mentioned that Kmart did their own printing in store. I looked into it further and found they did what they call a faux canvas (it’s more like a photo but boxed to look like a canvas, but cheaper!). Since I was doing two, keeping the cost down was a bonus but considering I wasn’t really fussed about it being an actual canvas or not (I was more interested in making sure the size was large enough and to have it nice and bold) these “faux canvas prints” would be perfect. Best thing yet was I would be able to pick them up the very next day!
Here are the finished canvas prints, side by side. (Preston has since made me out to be a fibber, cutting another tooth before he officially turned one therefore it should read I have 6 teeth. Not to mention the one he cut on his actual birthday! And yep, another a week after his birthday – a total of 8 teeth already!)
