Time to keep myself occupied while Charles plays his much anticipated new game, Starcraft 2. I’m not at all a fan of the game and know he has been waiting years for the release so for the next couple of weeks I can see that I will be spending them on my own. So time to get my craft on and make some cool little things for Addi.
I have an entire folder on my computer of inspirational images I think are just adorable and plan to make for him at some stage or at least make some of them. So I decided that first I would make a felt door hanger for him with his name on it. Sticking with my birdie theme this is just perfect!
Here is the end result of it hanging on Addison’s door.
As you can see these are different to the birds that I have made in the past and have different tails. I’ve used buttons for the eyes, a mixture of blue, red and brown felts, some with polka dots and others plain. I’ve followed through using matching ribbons to hang the letters and finished birds. I haven’t got the pattern to download on my computer for you all yet, but I will be sharing this with you all soon.
These birdie door hangers are something that I stumbled across on google images and used for inspiration, so by no means is it my original idea… but I do love it! I’ve drawn up my own pattern to make a replica of the door hangers based on the image. I did the same for each of the letters, however to make life easier if you intend to make your own you could simply buy some stick felt pre-cut letters.
I’m really happy with these colours, they are nice and vibrant. I think I will start to use these much more in the room to make it a bit more suitable for a boy now that I know the gender of my little one. It sure does beat having to make everything suited for either a boy or a girl when I was unsure what I was having.
This is gorgeous! I love it.
Thanks Nic! I’m working on another little birdie project right now which hopefully will compliment the door hanger perfectly.
Those are incredibly cute!
LOVE this, beatiful !
Thank you! I just love birdies I’m in the process of making one for my son Preston with different colours. If I ever get my butt into gear it will be done sometime this year lol!!
