This week I’m 19 weeks pregnant and really can think about nothing else other than my ultrasound next Tuesday! As you all know I plan to find out what I’m having (a boy or girl) so hopefully the baby will cooperate and make it very easy to tell the gender!
My friend Bec has just found out that she is having a little girl and had the best luck with finding out at her scan as her bub had her legs crouched up and open for a very clear view hehe. I’m also attending her baby shower on the weekend and as I have just found out last night that she is having a girl I will be spending my day today sewing her a Lissylane felt and button baby bouquet of 5 large flowers in pink and white with novelty buttons. The buttons will include cute teddy bears, hearts and butterflies and the flowers will be embellished with pretty pink lace, all finished with leaves and wrapped in pale pink ribbon. I’m hoping she will love to display this in the nursery as a beautiful memory of the time she was pregnant and her baby shower.
I’m also going to include a cute little 3 birdie mobile in pretty pink with golden wings and little gold beads which I will hopefully have time to sew today. A busy week ahead, I’ll hit the shops tomorrow and fingers crossed find a couple of extra little things to go with my hand made gifts for the baby shower.
Bec is also due the same time as me, in fact the day after me on the 28th October! Her baby and all women that are having girls for that matter, at this stage of pregnancy will have six million eggs in their ovaries – how incredible! However, by the time the baby is born she will have one million eggs. It is also a very important time for the senses to develop such as the baby’s hearing.
I’ve also started to feel my Jellybean move much more frequently now and have had quite a few large “kicks” and bumps, especially when I’m laying and resting at night. The next 10 weeks are the busiest time for a baby and the little one will be very active until it gets too crowded (at this stage the baby is about 15 cm from crown to rump in length). Charles is definitely looking forward to being able to feel the baby kick as well, what a wonderful experience to share!! I think officially I felt the first major movement and kicks from Jellybean on Saturday 31st May 2010, but there were a few little pops in the belly a little sooner.
