When I was pregnant with Addison I made myself up little reminder, tip cards for feeding, playing and sleeping and put them on a little chart (I found them when I was cleaning up my laptop files). Yes, I too was one of those people that had all these grand ideas about being a parent! What a shock to the system being a Mum really is!!
It’s one of those things that no one can ever really tell you what it’s going to be like and every person’s baby/children are different. You just have to experience it for yourself and then you can truly understand and appreciate what Mums and Dads do. That’s why I always have to laugh at the “what do stay at home mums (or dads) do all day??”
Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not that the information on the cards is false in any way. After all it was everything that I had been told in my antenatal classes. It is more that the tips are if we lived in an ideal world and all had cookie cutter children. I can tell you now, the cookie cutter didn’t come anywhere near Addison or Preston when they were baking!
So here they are, my “brilliant idea at the time cards”, but the advice swiftly went out the window. I did however do the cute artwork on them, so that’s something!
They sure do make me giggle now!
Hi, Melissa, I know what you mean about them being little individuals but also I notice you do a lot of those things anyway but you have adapted them to their dear little preferences. Love the art work.

That is true, I do use some of it but it’s just funny how you have these wonderful ideas about how it is all going to be, then when it comes down to it nothing goes to plan. Addi starting solids is the perfect example! I had all these ideas about how I would introduce foods to him and then it turned out that he liked 2 things and refused everything else. Same with my idea to try and wean Addison at 12 months, that went out the window too.
As for the artwork, it was like I already knew what Addi would look like pretty clever I think!!
