Today we start painting the last part of our house: the open plan lounge, dining and kitchen. First we have to make sure that everything is out of the way so that we can undercoat the walls. We intend to start in the kitchen and get that done first, as that is the most important part of the house to get back in working order. Plus since there are so many cupboards and not all that much wall it shouldn’t take us very long to get it done.

We have previously painted the down stairs of our home (entrance, spare bedroom, Addison’s bedroom, bathroom/laundry and powder room), and most recently we painted our master bedroom, ensuite and toilet. The house has a neutral colour theme with all the walls finished in Taubmans Ragrun. I have added colour by adding feature walls to the rooms in a mixture of colours that compliment each part of the house. All the colours still work together and suit the decor of our house.

We will be adding a feature wall to this area of the house also which will help define our study nook. When we were planning to start trying for a baby we knew that we would need to clear some space. The downstairs room was once our study housing all our computers and some large desks. This was the only room that we thought would be suitable for a baby’s room, so we came up with the idea to turn an unused space upstairs into a study area.

Our Old Study, Now Cleared for Addison's Bedroom

To look at the space before anything was done most people would think it was way too small for what we were aiming to do. However with the clever space saving ideas of handy shelving and wall mounting our computer monitors we were able to fit everything we needed into this small space. Once we have painted this study area I will post photos so you can see the end result.

I have picked Taubmans Strawberry Dash for the feature wall colour, it hopefully will match in well with our couch and also the curtains that can be closed to hide away the study. We have a very busy couple of weeks ahead to get the house ready for the baby shower, but I’m confident we can do it in time.
