As per usual with any of my events the weather has decided to be unseasonal, in this case extremely hot! Not what I was hoping for my high tea baby shower! I highly doubt that anyone will want to drink tea on a day like this, but at least there is plenty of yummy food to enjoy. All this week has been about the preparation for today and am so excited that the day is finally here to celebrate my pregnancy with Squiggle.

I decided since it is my second pregnancy and a baby shower really wasn’t necessary, that I would keep it very intimate with just my closest friends and of course my mums. I really just wanted to have a baby shower so that I could recognise the wonderful miracle growing inside me. After all why should a second pregnancy be any less special than a first!

The high tea theme lent itself to quite a feminine party, despite the fact that I’m expecting a baby boy. I decided that it didn’t matter that I am having a boy, the decorations could be as I wished and there needn’t be rules about blue for boys, pink for girls and yellow for the unknown. The party had a rose theme, using white paper lace doilies for decorations with a mixture of pink, blue and green to add a touch of colour. I own a pink serving/tea set, so an afternoon high tea was the perfect opportunity to use it. Tea pots, tea cups and other hand made decorations were used on the dessert table.

I kept the games quite relaxing, most of which were word games or those that could be done while remaining seated. I also added a craft aspect to the party, with the inclusion of bib decorating and the hand prints for my pregnancy belly masking. I love that everyone got into the spirit of the crafts and now I will have some wonderful keepsakes from the day.

Despite the heat, we all managed to have a wonderful time, chatting while enjoying some very tasty food. Here are some of the photos that Sandi snapped for me of the decorations and the days events.
